8:45am- 3:00pm Newburgh, NY - New York, NY (65 miles)

Lots of hills between Avon & Albany, and Albany & New York City. Up and down all day long. I must've climbed more ft. than the Colorado Rockies.

Stayed 3 weeks in New York City and had a great time. Saw plays, museums, and everything else. Had too much greasy pizza and cheese cake.

I met up with a high school friend (Bryan Hill), and his wife Shannon. We had pizza at Lombardi's Pizza, which is the oldest pizzeria in the U.S. and has the best pizza in the world.

Expecting heavy rain for the next three days, I decided on shorter days. It didn't rain today, so my 25 mile day was kind of a waste.

I've decided to ride through New York to Vermont and skip Canada. It rained the entire 85 miles. One flat tire.

08:00am- 5:00pm Barcelona, NY - Niagara Falls, NY (104 miles)

I rode through Buffalo on my way to Niagara Falls. It's not as prtty as Cleveland, not that Cleveland is very pretty. Buffalo has many tall rusty dilapitated buildings at their waterfront. Lots of potential if they clean house.

Niagara Falls power and energy is matched only by New York City itself. The Falls are awesome and I could have watched them all day. The boat ride at the bottom of the falls is a must.

Niagara Fort is about 15 miles downstreeam of the falls, at Lake Ontario. Cute little fort with some history, including the Star Spangled Banner.

I took a quick trip into New York City. The tours for the U.N. were full and the Statue of Liberty had ended trips inside the statue for that day so I didn't see either of those. I did see the Museum of Modern Art, Grand Central Terminal, Central Park, and enjoyed New York pizza, but folded it in two because I like thick crust. Folded New York pizza is now my favorite.

There are many wineries along Lake Erie from N.W. Pennsylvania through New York. In the winery photo, Lake Erie is a faint dark blue on the horizon.
The roads in north western Pennsylvania and New York are excellent. A must ride along highway 5.
